Chinese Traditional Steamed Bun – Best Healthy Vegetarian Diet Breakfast Idea

  1. Prepare warm water or milk, around 35 Β°C, add sugar, stir well until all melted, add yeast, mix well, set aside for around 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl with flour, pour the water/milk with yeast slowly, stir with a chop sticks. Then knead the flour into smooth and soft dough. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for around 1 hour or until the paste ball doubles in size. This process can be done by mixer. Then knead the dough again to remove any air ball inside.
  3. Then roll the dough into a long log around 1 inch in diameter or bigger if you want [the smaller the cake is, the faster it’s cooked through]. Cut the log to small sections, about 1/2 inch. You can also shape them into ground ball, they look lovely!
  4. Brush some oil on the bottom of each bun. Add cool water in wok and put the buns in the steamer to steam. Continue to steam for around 20 minutes after the water boils (*never let the wok runs out of water) [if you make bigger bun, the estimated time may increase]. Serve!
